When we found out the spica cast was in our future, I cried so hard about Caroline not being able to take a bath for 3 months. Baths were one of her favorite things and I was just heart broken. Letting Caroline splash in the sink is probably one of the next best things to a bath. Here is how you bathe a little baby in a spica cast:
1. put towels on sink and create a little pillow for head. Wash all areas above the cast and then towel dry.
2. Spin baby around and do legs and feet. Inside cast area gets Mustela PhysiObébé No-Rinse Cleansing Fluid. I also like this cleaner for after meal time or when we don't do sponge baths, makes Caroline smell so pretty. :o)
3. Flip baby around so they can splash in water and look in the mirror.
I use the green towel for comfort and to keep the splashing away from her cast.
If this computer had a scratch and sniff button, you would get to smell a clean baby.
Hi there, LOVE your blog... my little girl is one week into her hip spica today. Thanks for your ideas... can't wait to try the rolling trolley... question... where did you get your AMAZING purple tape?? Much better (and nicer looking!) than the stuff I have!!!
