ENT

Caroline had her 3 month follow-up at the ENT.  Every visit she has to sit in a sound proof room and listen for certain pitches.  Although she passed her ABR when she was under anestishia when she got her first set of tubs, she has yet to pass a hearing test in the booth.  The audiologist thought she had fluid in her ears, and she was correct.  Caroline's other tube has fallen out and now she has zero tubes.  The doctor said she has fluid and will need another set of tubes if her recheck in 6 weeks isn't clear.  He also suggested removing her adenoids while getting her tubes.  Apparently there is research that suggest that only 3% of kids need repeat tubes (because they do fall out at some point) if they have their adenoids removed compared to 30% of kids that do need repeat tubes because they did not have their adenoids removed.  I guess we will see in 6 weeks what will happen next.  Because she wasn't very thrilled to be at the doctors, I took her to the park to slide and swing. :o)

ENT--Tubes

Caroline got her tubes and everything went great.  The only sad part is that I forgot to take pictures.  Poop!  Oh well...

ENT Appointment

Caroline had her first ENT appointment with Dr. Bauer in Southlake.  Fortunately her ear infection is gone, but she does have fluid in her ears.  In the next 6 weeks she needs to have tubes put in to remove the fluids.  Dr. Bauer explained that with fluid in her ears, her hearing sounds muffled and similar to you sticking your fingers in your ears.  Also, language development is based on great hearing and not okay hearing.  If she isn't hearing the sounds correctly or if they are muffled, she won't learn to sound out those sounds and develop speech. 


Besides seeing Dr. Bauer for her ears, he also gave us a referral to see a endocrinologist at Medical City Children's that works with kids with short stature.  Yay!!! We thought we would have to travel to Oklahoma to meet an endocrinologist that worked with girls with Turner Syndrome and now we can see someone in Dallas.   Super Excited. :o)

Ear Infection=ENT

Sweet Caroline started waking two nights ago.  At first I thought she was just hungry, but the second night she screamed for about 3 hours if I put her down.  I made an appointment and sure enough she has an ear infection.  This is her second infection in 3 months, so we are off to see and ENT.  One of the issues with her having Turner's syndrome is that her ear canals are super narrow.  Since they are really narrow, any infection can cause hearing loss.  So we will be adding another doctor to our long list of doctors.
