Nystagmus-Retina Update

My brave little girl had her retina appointment today.  The doctor she saw was the only specialist that saw infants. Many of the patients were above the age of 50 which left me asking the nurse if the doctor did in fact see children.  Ha!  The older ladies were in love with Caroline's zest for life.  They all commented on her fast army crawling skills, but only after asking how old she was and why she wasn't walking.

After numbing her eyes, here is the table that they strapped her down to.  Caroline is very strong, so I understood the need to restrain her, but I wasn't really prepared for what I can only describe as paper clips being jammed into her eyes to keep her lids open.  I asked the doctor if it hurt and he said, "well, we numbed her eyes so it shouldn't hurt."  Really?  That didn't make me feel any better.

The doctor looked at her retina's for about 5 minutes.  He said they didn't look swollen and that they seemed perfect.  Great news!!

My little lady feel asleep about 10 minutes from the house.  Poor little girl needed a quick nap after all she had been through.

Caroline is excited about her retina's looking good.

She also wanted to call you, but she hasn't mastered the iPhone yet.  I think Caroline thinks that Rodney is the only person that I talk to on the phone.  When the phone rings, she says "hi, Dada!" When I end a call she will also say, "bye, bye."
